ABOUT THE ROLE
Organisational Context
Imparja Television is an Aboriginal owned, independent and not for profit commercial television broadcaster. Based in Alice Springs, Imparja commenced services in 1988. Imparja now operates 28 retransmission sites within the Remote Central and Eastern Australian (RCEA) licence area. Our broadcast area is over 3.6 million square kilometres. Spanning six states and territories with some 200 remote Indigenous communities within the license area. It is estimated Imparja broadcast daily to more than 1 million viewers. Our signal and the 14 Aboriginal radio services we provide capacity for are uplinked at the Optus Belrose satellite facility and are available on The Viewer Access Satellite Television service (VAST).
Primary Purpose & Function of the Role
The Operations Assistant supports the Media Operations Manager in the accurate creation, scheduling, and broadcast preparation of programs and promotional content across Imparja’s stations, while managing all related administrative functions. This role provides cross-functional operational support across multiple departments, including Programming, Traffic, Materials, Bookings, and Logistics, working collaboratively with relevant department managers. The Operations Assistant plays a vital role in contributing to the final detailed broadcast schedule for Imparja Television. The Operations Assistant operates within established guidelines with regular supervisory support available. The position holder is expected to proactively communicate with the Media Operations Manager regarding workload capacity issues to ensure timely task completion and maintain operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Media Operations Manager, you will be working with our team.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re seeking an Operations Assistant – Programming to join our Media Operations team.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented person with strong computer skills and excellent communication abilities to support our team in the critical task of scheduling television programmes and commercials for daily broadcast. Success in this role requires reliability, accuracy, and the ability to thrive under the pressure of tight daily deadlines. The ideal candidate will have exceptional data entry skills with a proven ability to maintain accuracy under pressure, strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work, and excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines consistently. We’re seeking someone with confidence in both written and verbal communication, a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency with computer systems including the ability to quickly learn new software. You’ll be a team player who brings energy, flexibility and integrity to the role. Previous broadcast or scheduling experience is not essential as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.
