Indigenous Australians 2.5% Of Population The Australian Bureau of Statistics says Aboriginal Australians now account for 2.5% of the population. The recently released figures show that the population is now at 500,000 and a spokesperson from the Australian National University says a high Indigenous birthrate has contributed to the increase in numbers.
John Taylor went on to say people are more willing to identify themselves nowadays as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
Health Centres For Torres and Cape York A clinic construction program in the far north region of Queensland will be finished in a few years time. The Queensland Government says Health Centres will continue to be built in the Torres Strait and Cape York area in the next few years. State Health Minister Stephen Robertson opened two clinics on the Erub and Warreber Islands.
McLellan Takes Silver
